Breaking News: Machete-wielding man apprehended near West Valley elementary school

West Valley City, UT – A man was arrested near a West Valley elementary school on Tuesday morning after being found with a machete. The incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. near Granger Elementary School.

According to the West Valley City Police Department, officers responded to a call about a suspicious person in the area. When they arrived, they found a man carrying a machete. The man was taken into custody without incident.

The suspect has been identified as 34-year-old Michael Anthony Ramirez. He has been booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on charges of possession of a dangerous weapon on school property and disorderly conduct.

No one was injured in the incident, and the school was not placed on lockdown. However, the West Valley City Police Department is reminding parents to talk to their children about stranger danger and to report any suspicious activity in the area.
